How to Attain Extremely Low RH/O2 Concentrations:
Vacuum Cycling vs. Purge and Bleed
Vacuum cycling provides the quickest, most economical way to achieve extremely low moisture and oxygen levels inside a glovebox.
Purge-and-bleed displacement relies on a continuous purge of dry process gas (typically, nitrogen or argon) to displace moisture-laded air, which exits through a bleed valve. This process typically requires many hours, consumes a high volume of process gas, and may never achieve very low oxygen concentrations (below 5 ppm) required in many applications.
Vacuum cycling evacuates ambient air – and with it, moisture and oxygen – inside a vacuum chamber or glovebox. When air is removed, you simply backfill the chamber with process gas until the chamber attains neutral pressure. If needed, this process is repeated until oxygen or moisture concentration reaches the desired level. Typically, only a few cycles, requiring only a fraction of the gas and time of a purge-and-bleed protocol, are all that’s needed to reach single-digit oxygen concentrations.
Once set point levels are attained, close off vacuum valves and use a Dual Purge System and appropriate controller (NitroWatch™ for relative humidity, Trace Oxygen Analyzer for O2 concentration) to maintain dry, anaerobic conditions.

The Series 210 Glovebox supports a wide range of vacuum and degassing operations at full vacuum (29.9"Hg).
This vacuum capability also allows removal of atmospheric humidity and oxygen and backfill with a process gas, quickly providing a moisture-free, low-oxygen environment for applications as diverse as Lithium battery manufacturing and anaerobic pathogen studies.
For automated vacuum control, select the Vacuum Control Module, pump and connection kit below. For automated backfill and purging, select the Dual Purge System and Trace Oxygen Analyzer, which work in tandem to provide oxygen levels down to 1 ppm(v).
The optional air lock allows transfer of materials into the glovebox without breaching the controlled environment.
- 1.5"-thick reinforced acrylic walls support full vacuum (to 29.9"Hg)
- Dual hose barb fittings simplify connection to vacuum pump to allow rapid air removal and backfill with clean, dry process gas
- Perfect for anaerobic processing in a low-humidity nitrogen or argon environment
- Select Trace Oxygen Analyzer to maintain oxygen levels to 1 ppm

Glove box extras
The Dual Purge and NitroWatch automatically control the internal RH [relative humidity] of the glove box providing a stable working environment whilst limiting gas consumption.
Air locks are designed to ensures a leak-proof environment that minimizes nitrogen loss and contamination inflow while parts are passed into and out of the glove box. "Knife" edges along the doors seat against recessed polyurethane gaskets.Plastic and steel versions are available.
These accordion sleeves, made of neoprene, can be used for any size and type of gloves. The convenient two-piece design lets you change glove sizes and types for different operators or applications without the expense of changing the sleeve itself. The corrugated section keeps the sleeve off the operator’s arm for better air circulation and greater comfort. Includes nitrile gloves. Glove Thickness: 18 mil.
A wide range of glove and iris ports in plastic and stainless steel. Replacement ports are also available.
