Tacky Mats

21st July 2006

Tacky mats can be used in any areas where contamination such as dust and dirt needs to be removed from footwear. This includes medical, pharmaceutical, electronics, aerospace, nuclear and general building, construction and work areas. In some cases tacky mats are used to ensure that particulate is not treaded into a work area such as a Lab. In other instance they can be employed preventing dirt from being tramped from a work area such as a construction site into more general office areas.

The tacky mats normally come in pads of up to 30 individual mats. They are simple to use, the pad is securely stuck to the floor near an entry or exit door, the bottom of the pad has a peel of backing area that holds the tacky mat firmly in place. Each tacky mat is then peeled off by the means of a number corner tab. Each layer is coated with a high tack adhesive which removes foot borne contaminates. When the top surface becomes contaminated that layer is simply peeled off revealing a new clean tacky mat, this process is continued until all 30 tacky mat layers are used up and a new pad put down. No residue will remain on the floor upon removal of the mat.

These tacky mats can be installed in a matter of seconds and can last several weeks at a time depending on the amount and type of traffic. No cumbersome frame is required for this type of tacky mat. Cleaner and more hygienic than textile mats which become a source of contamination themselves when dirty.
